We understand how difficult it can be to cope with the demands of caring for a loved one on a long term basis. We all need a break when faced with such demands and each of our homes provides the perfect location to enjoy a break for a few days or weeks. All our homes can offer respite care (subject to availability). We are able to book and confirm respite placements within two weeks of the desired commencement date.
Fees for respite care are negotiable depending on the duration of the stay, the level of care required and the type of room that you choose. Some of our homes also have double en-suite rooms for couples or friends to share if they would like to have a break together.
It can be an excellent opportunity to socialise with new people because short stay visitors are able to get involved in all the activities that our long term residents enjoy and to experience a short break among our friendly, welcoming care team.
For care givers, of course, it can mean a chance to have a break themselves, to relax, go on holiday or attend important appointments while your loved one is in a safe, comfortable environment with personalised care and support tailored to their needs.
Respite care also affords you the opportunity to make an informed decision should you be considering permanent residency in a care home.
Even though many families take great joy in providing care for their loved ones at the comfort of their own homes, the physical, emotional and financial consequences for the family caregiver can be overwhelming without some support, such as respite. Respite provides the much needed temporary break from the often exhausting challenges faced by the caregiver.
The importance of respite to caregivers cannot be overlooked, as without it they can experience a range of associated stress induced issues.
If you’re planning a family holiday but are worried about leaving an elderly relative behind with respite care you can be safe in the knowledge that your relative is experiencing quality care and also being able to enjoy a holiday of their own!
