At St Francis we are always happy to help residents achieve their personal wants and to ensure their needs are always met. We aim to promote wellness and quality of life by taking away the worries of everyday life likes bills, maintenance of your home, the worry of being alone and allow residents to concentrate on the aspects of their lives that bring them happiness and contentment. We aim to be as flexible as possible each day to support the changing nature of everyday life from the last minute support of a care giver to help you visit the shops, to allowing the wants of our residents to decide on the day’s activities rather than a timetable. Our residents can see Naden, our manager on weekdays and are always welcome to talk over any issue, concern or idea they may have. This ensures an individual’s views are always taken into account in all decision making.

St Francis Care Home is situated in the affluent and popular suburb of London called Highams Park. Highams Park is in the London Borough of Waltham Forest and is serviced by excellent bus routes and the Mainline Rail service National Express East Anglia out of Liverpool Street towards Chingford. St Francis is conveniently located to take advantage of the popular amenities offered by Highams Park with its mixture of shops, cafes and local delicatessens, or more further afield in Woodford Green, Chingford and Buckhurst Hill. St Francis was two adjoined semi detached Edwardian houses that were professionally and sympathically extended and refurbished to provide en-suite accommodation over three floors, all serviced by a lift and two separate stairways. These additions were made without compromising the period features and the homely character of the original building. To the rear of the home is a very large private garden with large seating areas that are accessible to all our residents. It even has its own World War Two Bunker! St Francis is truly worthy of the description “Home from Home”, and is indeed a comment that is frequently passed about the home. We offer highly professional care with a personal touch within our core principles of Care, Comfort and Compassion. St Francis works to provide emotional ‘warmth’ for our residents through patience and genuine care to ensure that the total well being of our residents are met. The home provides safety and security with no unnecessary constraints on freedom or independence. We aim to create an environment which supports our residents to retain their friendships, skills, hobbies and interests. Further, we aim to promote new relationships and interests by supporting our residents to access and benefit from the local community. St Francis has won its “Home from Home” reputation from our residents, their families and the clinicians that have worked with the home over the years by concentrating on every aspect of our residents’ day to ensure every day is a good day.
Welcome to St Francis Care Home. Our manager is Sharmila Rai who has worked with Ventry Care Homes since June 2008 and was appointed Registered Manager at St Francis Care Home in Aug 2018 having worked in the role of carer, senior care, deputy manager and registered manager at other care homes within the Ventry Care Homes group.
Sharmila has a Diploma in Nursing from Koirala Institute of Health Science, and have completed both the NVQ Level 4 in Health & Social Care and NVQ Level 4 (Registered Manager Award). Sharmila is very much a ‘hand on’ manager and enjoy interacting with her residents, their friends and relatives on a daily basis. The small and homely nature of St Francis very much supports this close relationship.
Sharmila is passionate about her role and works with her staff team to deliver a high quality of care to her residents every day
